Local Community Resource List
Identify local businesses, community-based organizations, global education organizations and associations, schools, and other stakeholders who share the value in global education. Create a spreadsheet synthesizing potential opportunities for collaboration, and include notes on ideas for how to engage these stakeholders.
International Center of Rock Hill
The stated mission is to "preserve the dignity, promote the well-being and to improve the quality of life of the International Community of York County giving internationals and immigrants the tools to become independent, productive members of society at large." I hope to seek out this charity to see how my students or the National Honor Society might assist the effort to promote smooth transitions to community life.

Kiwanis Club of Rock Hill

I know this group gives of its time to change the world one hour at a time. The International Organization focuses on global awareness, so I know that this club will be an amazing partner to advance global education. I also know that Kiwanis partners with UNICEF, so finding opportunities for Project Based Learning will be possible.
Knights of Columbus-Rock Hill
This organization, though a religious in nature, as a program called the Global Wheelchair Mission, which supports mobility for those in need. In terms of charitable giving worldwide, the Knights continue to lead. The Rock Hill KOC also helps St. Anne Catholic Church organize the International Festival.

Optimist International Oratorical Contest
This group believes in networking with others that promote optimistic attitudes about the potential of young people, and men and women throughout the world. Each year, the group announces a scholarship essay contest with last year's topic "How My Passions Impact the World." I plan to encourage my students to participate in next year's contest.

Winthrop University
This university's International Studies department helps students prepare for a multicultural world. In addition, the institution also hosts the TEA Fellows program, and, having benefited from cultural sensitivity training myself, I know the faculty and staff would welcome the opportunity to help Rock Hill students increase cultural literacy.
